Intrarater and interrater reliability of the VISITRAK Melody Clayton, PT, CWS, Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, TN Background and Purpose. The purpose of this study was to establish intrarater and interrater reliability of the VISITRAK (Smith & Newphew)device for measuring wound surface area. Subjects. Twenty-eight wounds from 19 patients seen at Methodist University Hospital physical therapy wound care were traced on VISITRAK transparency grids. Methods. Each of the tracings was retraced on the digital pad of the VISITRAK twice by the same physical therapist (PT) to determine intrarater reliability. The tracings were retraced by a second PT and compared against the first PT's tracings to assess interrater reliability. Results. There was a high correlation using the Pearson Correlation Coefficient for intrarater reliability of 0.99985 and for the interrater reliability of 0.99996. Discussion. The results of this study indicate that intrarater and interrater wound measurements can be taken reliably with the VISITRAK. |
