The MSc in Wound Healing and Tissue Repair is a web-based, distance-learning and interprofessional programme of study that has been in existence for nine years. A survey was undertaken to evaluate current student's views with regards to on-line and interprofessional learning.

The main aim of the questionnaire was to collect data on their usage of the various web-based learning resources, such as the chat room and discussion forum faciltiies. A secondary aim was to examine the students opinions of interprofessional learning. The specific objectives were to; to establish when and where students access their course material; to identify student's usage of the chat room and discussion forum facilities; to identify the benefits and barriers to using the chat room and discussion forum facilities and finally to explore the students views of interprofessional learning.

The sample was drawn from students who commenced the course in 2002-2004, providing a total population of 65 students. The students were sent a questionnaire via their homepage on the website. A two week period was allocated for return of the questionnaires and then a further two follow-up messages were sent. Non-respondents were also followed up by two further reminders, after which no further follow-up was carried out. This was a human volunteer study, whereby consent to take part is indicated by the individual returning the questionnaire

The statistical package SPSS was used to generate both descriptive statistics about the results and inferential statistics were employed to examine any association between variables. The results of which will be used to ensure continued quality assurance of the course and improve the experience of the postgraduate learner..
