Vera Santos, Mailton Alves da Silva, Maria Augusta Junqueira de Azevedo, Janaina Zambon de Oliveira, Rosangela Schmidt Lombardi

The study aimed to evaluate the responsiveness of the Pressure Ulcer Scale for Healing (PUSH) in pressure ulcers. Prospective study type, it was approved by Ethics Comittee of the Nursing College of the University of São Paulo and authorized by five hospitals in four Brazilian cities. The data were obtained through a weekly pressure ulcer examination, during a minimal period of four weeks, using the adapted Brazilian version of PUSH tool (Santos et al, 2005) and after obtaining the assigned consent from patients. The data were submitted to Friedman test. Out of 66 pressure ulcers assessed, 46 composed the sample because they achieved five evaluations. They located mainly in sacrum (41,3%) and were on stage II (41,3%) and also IV (28,3%) and III (26,1%). The results showed there were statistically significative diferences among the scores during the time period, for all sub scales and for total scores (P<0,001). In conclusion, the study confirmed the responsiveness of the PUSH tool in pressure ulcers continuing the validation process of the instrument in our country..Descriptors: pressure ulcer; PUSH; responsiveness; validity.
