Ionic silver application & HBO therapy and the management of a cavernous debulking wound

58 yr. old female with history of chrohns disease and squamous cell carcinoma of perirectum with s/p debulking of large tumor perirectal region. Pt subsequently underwent uteral stent placements, colostomy, and chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Pt. presented with cavernous, nonhealing perirectal wound measuring 12.3 x 6.0 x5.0 cm. At four weeks she measured 7.0 x 3.0 x 2.5 cm at sixteen weeks she measured 0.8 x 0.3 x 0.2 and successfully healed four weeks later without further complications. Ionic silver application and hyperbaric oxygen therapy along with due diligence of patient, wound care team and wound care physician following the center's clinical pathway healed this patient in 22 weeks.
